Award descriptions

Backbone Team of the Year

Non-clinical, corporate, or backbone services are critical to everything we do. In our strategy, this is referred to as being 'system enabled'.

Colleague of the Year, Backbone

This award recognises the contribution of an individual, working in a non-patient contact function. We label that backbone not back office! That recognises the immense importance these individuals contribute to everything we do for patients, carers and communities.

Colleague of the Year, Clinical

This award goes to the individual who has made an outstanding contribution to clinical care within the trust over the last twelve months (and often longer). It is perhaps our highest profile award and is a tribute to the best of the best in what we do. Every nominee relies on others. But that must not detract from their contribution or achievement.

Equity and Inclusion Award

Most of the promises in our strategy are about addressing inequalities. Our work on equity and commitment to ensuring inclusion, is crucial to the trust's mission. Health inequalities drive harm and cost in our care system. We have work to do to play our part in tackling them.

Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Champion

Work to champion diversity and address exclusion matters. While it is a whole trust mission, individuals can play a particular role as mentors, role models and advocates. This award tries to recognise those brave and distinct contributions.

Leader of the Year

The trust has lots of leaders working in all sorts of roles. This award acknowledges exceptional effort and success, either over the last year or over a period of time., It is nominated by colleagues and peers.

Learning and Education Award

With the creation of Learning Half Days and the commitment to grow annually our training spend, the profile of education and learning inside the trust has never been higher. This award recognises those who are making real differences to the learning of others, inside our communities and within the trust itself.

Living Our Values Award

The Trust has Six values, which are longstanding. This award goes to those Who have embodied those values, or some of them, most distinctively over the past year.

Nurturing the Power in our Communities Exemplar

This award recognises individuals or teams who are breaking down boundaries between our traditional work and that of those providing health and care support in our neighbourhoods and communities.

Peer Support Worker of the Year

Peer support workers (PSW) at the trust bring vital expertise and perspective into clinical teams. The first promise in our strategy aims to expand the number of peer support workers we have in place. This award recognises the outstanding contribution being made by PSWs already in a role within RDaSH.

Quality and Safety Award

We are committed to safety across the trust in what we do clinically and among our non- clinical services. Quality improvement will be critical to delivering better outcomes over coming years, and this award acknowledges those who are putting in place projects and programmes that can help us to succeed.

Research and Innovation Award

Research is part of everyone's role and we all have the opportunity to innovate in the work that we do. Individuals and teams across the trust are working to bring new techniques and insights into our work, and test methods and treatments that may improve outcomes. The award celebrates that work.

Team of the Year, Adult Clinical Care

This team of the year award recognises outstanding practice in the care of adults, including older adults, at the trust. It is an important award, acknowledging that the most care we offer is delivered through the coordination and cohesion of great teamwork.

Team of the Year, Children's Clinical Care

This award recognises the huge importance of mental and physical health services for children and young people inside the trust.

Volunteer of the Year

Volunteering has always been important to the trust. Promise 3 makes the ask clear that we want to treble the number of people we have involved in our volunteering work, so that volunteering becomes common in all our services and places.
